How to use embroidery designs with  a silhouette

Follow along to learn how to use Silhouette Studio to cut applique fabric for machine embroidery designs.

First, only Silhouette Studio Designer Plus and Business Editions allow embroidery design import. If your design has a DXF file, you can use this with the Basic Edition, though.

1. Load Embroidery Design

You can use DST, EXP, JEF, PES, or XXX file formats.

2. Isolate the Placement Stitch Line

This will become the cutting line.

3. Select the Shapes and Select the Tool.

Use the rotary cutter for the Cameo 4 with backed or unbacked fabric.

4. Send to the Machine

Send over the cutting directions to your Silhouette.

5. Use Cut Fabric With Your Embroidery Machine

Put it on the base fabric right after your placement stitch.
